Motel Today

The Oakleigh Motel known affectionately as "The Oak", is an integral part of Australia's history as it was the first motel to open in Victoria and is "Heritage Listed" as worthy to be retained.

It has recently been completely refurbished, bringing it into the 21st Century but retaining it's 1950's charm.

Another historic milestone for "The Oak" was when it became the turn-around point for the Marathon in the 1956 Olympic Games!

"The Oak" has been the site of many TV commercials .. the latest being for Toyota Tarago, as well as several movie shoots such as the film "Lucky Break".

Catering for both families, groups and the corporate client we offer comfort and friendly service to anyone looking for a quality motel at a moderate rate.   We have 31 units and the carpark has ample room for 30 cars.

Situated close to the "Sandbelt Golf Courses" of Huntingdale, Metropolitan and Commonwealth, Yarra Yarra, Kingston Heath and not too far from Royal Melbourne.

Monash University, Monash Medical Centre, the Chadstone and Oakleigh Shopping Complexes are in the vicinity and we are just 21K East of the Melbourne CBD.

We are within a kilometer of the Eastern Freeway which is the main artery between Melbourne and the South Eastern suburbs.
